Gattuso stops midfielder sale
The January transfer window opens officially in a few days and many AC Milan players have already prepared their luggage to abandon San Siro. However, some of this players are expected to stay regardless of their will.
Among the sure departures in January, at least until a few days ago, was the name of the Italo-Argentine Jose Mauri. The young former Parma midfielder, last year was loaned without success at Empoli. He hoped he would have more room at his disposal this year at the Rossoneri squad, especially after the decision to stay in Milanello at the end of the summer. A bold choice but one that the talented footballer now seems to regret because this season he has accumulated only 3 official appearances between Serie A and Europa League for a disappointing total of 121 minutes.
Too little for a promising player that, until last year, was considered one of the most interesting and complete midfielders in Serie A. His departure in January, however, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, would be frozen momentarily from a direct order by Gennaro Gattuso. The Rossoneri coach will insist on the midfield of three and could ask Jose Mauri to stay in squad again and become a regular choice in times of rotations. “Before giving the go-ahead I want to see you at work in training” – coach Gattuso has told his young footballer to encourage him to get noticed more.
Meanwhile, in recent weeks there have been rumors of strong interest from Bari, proposing a loan offer for Mauri until June. However Milan are considering an alternative option, the inclusion of the young midfielder in the negotiations with Udinese for the signing of Czech midfielder Jakub Jankto. Surely for Jose Mauri would be better to go elsewhere to play continuously and gain more experience.
