AC Milan make final decision on Mandzukic

AC Milan striker Mario Mandzukic has been a flop at San Siro. The Croatian has made very few appearances without scoring.

In January, AC Milan signed Mario Mandzukic with the hope that he would give a helping hand in attack. A veteran player with vast experience in Serie A, the Croatian striker should had been able to contribute immediately. At least on paper.

Unfortunately, Mandzukic has been a big mercato flop. The 34-year-old has made just 5 appearances so far without scoring a single goal. A big disappointment that has proven costly for the Rossoneri. When Ibrahimovic was out due to injuries, Pioli had to adopt other players in the centre forward role because Mandzukic was unavailable too.

Mario signed a six-months contract at 1.8 million with option for another year. While Milan still hope he can contribute in the remaining matches of Serie A, Mario’s future has already been decided.

Sky Sport confirms that AC Milan will not renew Mario Mandzukic’s contract. At the end of the season the Croatian striker will leave San Siro and he could also announce his retirement.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are already at work trying to find a new partner for Zlatan Ibrahimovic for next season. In a few days, the Rossoneri will announce Ibrahimovic’s renewal for one more year at 7 million euros (bonuses included).
