Real Madrid are losing patience with Thibaut Courtois and have identified AC Milan goalkeeper Ginluigi Donnarumma as his replacement.
AC Milan are experiencing a deep crisis of results with coach Marco Giampaolo risking his job after just six rounds of Serie A. Another problematic issue for AC Milan is the renewal of Ginluigi Donnarumma.
Gigio’s current contract expires in 2021 and signing a new deal won’t be easy at all. His agent, Mino Raiola, has already rejected AC Milan’s first proposal. Raiola wants Donnarumma to continue earning 6 million per season and become the vice-captain of AC Milan. However, another year out of Champions League could complicate talks especially with Real Madrid lurking.
Don Balon reports that Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is heavily unimpressed with Thibaut Courtois’ poor performances this season. Courtois became Real Madrid’s number one choice between the posts after the sale of Keylor Navas to PSG this summer.
The Belgium goalkeeper is no longer the world-class player that he used to be at Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. 11 goals conceded in 8 appearances have been more than enough to convince Zidane to look for other options with Ginluigi Donnarumma his top choices.
According to Don Balon, if Real Madrid decide to materialize their interest in Donnarumma in the coming weeks, the Italian goalkeeper will end renewal talks with AC Milan. The Spaniards report that the Italy international does not want to remain linked to a team without aspirations and lack of Champions League football will push him towards the exit.
Donnarumma’s departure was one of the summer’s hot topics. PSG were interested in his services but did not match AC Milan’s evaluation of the player. If Real Madrid are serious in their pursuit, they will have to pay between 50-70 million for Donnarumma.
