Former Chelsea and Monaco sd Michael Emenalo is set to become the new sporting director of AC Milan.
Michael Emenalo will be the new sporting director of AC Milan reports Tuttosport (via MilanLive.it). The former Chelsea and Monaco sporting director will take the role currently occupied by Frederic Massara but in all probability he will also have Maldini’s powers on the transfer market.
Massara who is the right hand of Zvonimir Boban and Paolo Maldini, is also destined to leave Milan at the end of the season. But while Boban will be fired, Maldini will probably leave by choice rather than by the imposition of Elliott Management Corporation.
Michael Emenalo is a Nigerian former defender. He had a modest football career playing mostly in minor leagues but has enjoyed much more success behind the desk.
Emenalo joined Chelsea in 2007 as the assistant of former coach Avram Grant. He covered the role of chief scout and was alter promoted to technical director of Chelsea until 2017. For the last two years Michael Emenalo has served as the sporting director of Monaco.
Besides Emenalo, in the new club structure that Ivan Gazidis envisions for AC Milan, Hendrik Almstadt and Geoffrey Moncada will have more decision powers and will be integrated in the staff of Ralf Rangnick who is set to become the new coach of AC Milan.
