AC Milan coach Marco Giampaolo had a meeting with Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban to discuss the situation of the squad after the disappointing draw with Cesena.
MILAN NEWS – The goalless draw against Cesena was a bit shocking for the Rossoneri fans but not only. After the very positive performances in recent friendly games, AC Milan players were very underwhelming with very few exceptions.
It seems than the performances, rather then the result, has upset a lot the management. Coach Marco Giampaolo had an abrupt meeting with Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban. An absolutely serene and cordial confrontation to understand what is not right with this squad, still under construction and in need of time.
According to Tuttosport, there is a fact that has gone a little unnoticed but that actually says a lot. Against Cesena, on Saturday night, neither of the five new signings was part of the starting eleven. Therefore it is not surprising if Giampaolo has had difficulties in imposing his own idea of the game but at the same time he wants to line up players who know exactly what to do on the pitch.
Giampaolo’s words after the match were quite exhaustive: “I coached Rafael Leao only once, Bennacer never, Kessie twice, Paqueta and Duarte three times. They are players with great values but they still don’t know anything in a collective thought. The others must improve, despite having done a month of training together, let alone these players“.
Another important topic discussed between Giampaolo, Maldini and Boban was the worrisome situation of Krzysztof Piatek. The Pole has forgotten how to score and was in fact the subject of profound reflection with the two Milanese leaders. The problem, however, concerns the entire Milan attack and not only Piatek. AC Milan make their Serie A debut against Udinese this weekend.
