Niang has finally made a decision regarding his future. He will reject Watford and will return at AC Milan.
M’Baye Niang’s time in England has come to an end. Despite Watford’s desire to permanently sign the French attacker for 18 million euros the 22 year old made it known he intends to return at Milan. Apparently in his decision a big role has played coach Mazzarri’s sacking a few days ago. He enjoyed a good half season at Watford playing 16 games and scoring twice.
Niang made public his decision to reject Watofrd stay in an interview for L’Equipe: “I owe a lot to the club for helping me discover a new Championship, a new mentality that helped me find continuity. Even though Watford has the right to permanently sign me i do not want to stay. It is a decision solely based on personal motives. My decision has nothing to with the fans, whom i thank from the bottom of my heart. Things just didn’t go the way i was hoping. Club officials have told me they wish to sign me permanently but i took some time to reflect. I weighted the advantages and the disadvantages and despite the great offer from Watford i don’t believe my future lies there. I understand that the club was counting on me and they may feel disappointed from my decision but i ask them to try and understand my choice“.
Niang does not intend to stay in London even though Watford has made their desire to permanently sign him. The 22 year old attacker will return at the rossoneri who still have to decide what to do with him. Montella appears to have lost faith in Niang and the most probable choice for him is to be sold again. After a good season at Genoa, Milan decided to give Niang another chance in San Siro. He played a very good season with coach Mihajlovic being one of the best players of the rossoneri. With coach Montella things changed and he failed to impress. In January he was loaned to Watford.
