AC Milan have made an offer for 22-year-old Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret according to reports from France.
Investcorp’s exclusive talks with Elliott Management are expected to be closed within two weeks. The Bahrain fund should become the new owner of AC Milan club for a figure close to 1.1 billion euros. Althoughthe takeover not being completed yet, AC Milan’s upcoming mercato moves are reportedly being planned with the approval of Investcorp.
RMC Sport writes that AC Milan have made an official offer for Lyon central midfielder Maxence Caqueret. The 22-year-old has played a key role for Lyon in the past two seasons. Despite his young age, Caqueret has established himself as a pillar of Peter Bosz’s starting eleven.
Caqueret could represent an interesting alternative for AC Milan’s midfielder considering the departures of Franck Kessie and Tiemouè Bakayoko at the end of the season. Maxence, who played alongside Pierre Kalulu in Lyon’s youth sector, has refused to renew his contract with the French club and become a free agent in one year.
Lyon have offered to quadruple Caqueret’s salary and give him the captain’s armband next season. However, Caqueret is strongly tempted by the idea of joining the Rossoneri and playing Champions League football reports RMC Sport. Lyon’s eight spot in Ligue 1 standings gives little hope of that.
If talks turn out to be successful Maxence Caqueret could become AC Milan’s third signing under Investcop. The Rossoneri have already agreements in place for Sven Botman and Divock Origi. Both players will join AC Milan despite respective deals have been agreed long time ago.
