Mattia Caldara’s injury is a bit more severe then initially thought and the AC Milan defender will remain out at least until the derby.
The injury situation at Casa Milan seems improved but with one exception. Patrick Cutrone and Gonzalo Higuain have fully recovered and should start for the Rossoneri in the two upcoming games against Olympiacos and Chievo. More complicated instead the conditions of defender Mattia Caldara.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports this morning that for the 24 year old centre back, it will take some time and patience before we see him again on the pitch. The defender is out since the match with Dudelange, his debut with the Red and Black jersey. The former Juventus, reveals the newspaper, is struggling with pubalgia and will remain out for at least one week. Caldara will not feature in the upcoming games with Olympiacos on Thursday and even with Chievo in the league on Sunday.
The defender should return directly after the international break and just in time for the derby against Inter. An unlucky stop just when his Rossoneri adventure was about to take off. A positive debut in Luxembourg, then the chance of reconfirmation against his former team Atalanta faded at the very last minute. So, after a period of apprenticeship for a month, the 24 year old from Bergamo will have to wait a little longer to turn on the pitch. Mateo Musacchio is ready for some overtime work in Europa League or Cristian Zapata could make his debut this season alongside Alessio Romagnoli.
The Rossoneri signed Mattia Caldara this summer in exchange for Bonucci as part of the mega deal with Juventus that also brought Gonzalo Higuain at San Siro. The Italy international made 66 appearances in two seasons (and scoring 10 goals) for Atalanta making a name for himself as one of the best centre backs in Serie A
