AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have closed the transfer of Nikola Kalinic. The Croatian striker leaves San Siro after just one season.
“It is not yet official but Atletico Madrid has no doubt in revealing that Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins will dress the Red and White jersey for next season“. Thus begins the article of Marca’s online version regarding the future of the 30 year old Rossoneri striker. The two clubs have closed everything and the Croatian would join Atleti in the coming days in exchange for 18 million euros.
“The arrival of the striker at the Wanda Metropolitano – continues Marca – is expected to happen tomorrow morning, thanks to the closing of negotiations with AC Milan“. The Spanish newspaper reveals that Kalinic joins Diego Simeone’s side on loan with the obligation to make the move permanent at the end of the season for a fee of 18 million euros.
The former Fiorentina star moved to AC Milan last summer for a reported figure of 25 million euros. During his single season at San Siro the Croatian scored only 6 goals in 41 appearances. Disappointing numbers for the most experienced player among Rossoneri strikers.
It must be said that getting 18 million euros for a player that flopped big is good business by sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli especially considering that Nikola Kalinic is now 30 years old.
