Manchester United are interested in AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer and are willing to pay his release clause according to a report.
The renewal of Ismael Bennacer was considered a closed issue by the Rossoneri. AC Milan had reach an agreement in principle with the 24-year-old central midfielder on a new contract of €3.5 million per season until 2027. However, many months have passed and the Algerian has not put pen to paper on a new deal. Talks have stalled ever since.
With his contract expiring in two years other clubs have began to circle. According to reports from Algeria, Manchester United are interested in Ismael Bennacer. Manchester United are currently in attempts to rebuild their squad with talented and young elements in order to catch up with neighboring powerhouses Manchester City and Liverpool.
Manchester United new coach Erik ten Hag has Bennacer in his list of targets to improve the midfield. The Premier League club are offering Victor Lindelof to AC Milan plus cash. The English are aware of AC Milan’s attempt to sign a new centre back this summer but Lindelof is not a name that excites Paolo Maldini. The Rossoneri have concentrated all their efforts on Botman with Bremer being the alternative.
Manchester United are also willing to pay Bennacer’s release clause of 50 million euros according to the report. The 24-year-old midfielder has a release clause in his contract that is valid only to foreign clubs. Any European club that truly wants to sign Bennacer can bypass Milan and pay his release.
Ismael Bennacer had a difficult start to the season losing his spot in Stefano Pioli’s eleven in favor of Sandro Tonali. Nevertheless, the Algeria international was instrumental to the Rossoneri’s Scudetto win playing a key role in the second half of the season.
