AC Milan to sign German prodigy on low-cost transfer
AC Milan have targeted German football prodigy Malick Thiaw. The goal scoring defender may arrive on a low cost transfer.
The AC Milan of the future will hunt for players with precise characteristics: young, talented, low cost and who can guarantee future capital gains to strengthen the club financially. A player of such characteristics could come from the German Bundesliga. Calciomercato reports that AC Milan are interested in Malick Thiaw, the multi-ethnic defender of Schalke 04.
The 18-year-old centre back is one of the top names on the list of the Rossoneri scouts. Born in 2001-born Thiaw recently made his first official appearance with Schalke’s first team in a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim impressing Milan’s scouts with his progress.
Who is Thiaw, the Finnish talent on Rangnick’s list
Strong physic blessed with elegant feet. Thiaw is considered a prodigy of the German football. The youngster has Finnish and German nationality but is of Senegalese origins. A boy with a great qualities and many faces.
It is no coincidence that Malick Thiaw is one of the leaders of the Schalke Under-19 and also the top best scorer of his team, with 8 goals and one assist in 20 league appearances. Unlike traditional defender Thiaw has a great desire to contribute in attack helping his teammates in the offensive phase. His play style and goal scoring abilities have been compared to Liverpool’s Joel Matip. However the young centre back often makes some errors due to his inexperience and various distractions.
All treatable defects, at least according to AC Milan. The signing of Thiaw would be doubly intriguing: primarily from an economic point of view, because it would be low-cost, given that his contract with Schalke 04 expires in 2021 and renewal talks have been unsuccessful.
The talented player would also be very useful for Ralf Rangnick. If the German coach would arrive at AC Milan after all, Thiaw would be an ideal resource for him for the new season. Rangnick is in fact used to finding and enhancing young international talents.
AC Milan are looking to the future. Ivan Gazidis’ project is clear: to unleash his scouts towards investments on very young players with an assured future. And Thiaw, Schalke’s defender-bomber, would be an eligible purchase.
