Maldini’s last gift for AC Milan arrives next week

Paolo Maldini transfers milan

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder will arrive in Italy next week to complete the bureaucratic procedures and sign his AC Milan contract.

Before they left AC Milan, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara had already started to prepare the squad for the upcoming season without the slights of clues on what their fate would be. Initially, Maldini had completed the signing of Marco Sportiello as Maignan’s back-up and latter that of Daichi Kamada to replace Brahim Diaz.

The recent management change has had a huge impact of the summer transfer plans of the Rossoneri. Gorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are now following new transfer targets, different from those of Maldini. However, the signing of Daichi Kamada will proceed regardless of Maldini’s departure.

The old agreement is still valid. Daichi Kamada will put pen to paper on a four-year contract at €3 million per season plus bonuses. Kamada arrives on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. The reason why the signing of the Japan international has been dragging for so long is purely bureaucratic.

Kamada’s agents were not registered in Italy and could not legally represent the 26-year-old. The registration process has been underway but needs one month to fully complete. That means the entire practice should be closed between 28 June and 1 July. So at the end of the month Kamada will receive the green light to sign his contract with AC Milan.

Daichi Kamada ended a very positive season on a personal level scoring 16 goals and assisting 7 in 47 appearances across all competitions. Excellent numbers for an attacking midfielder. The Japan international play a key role in Eintracht Frankfurt winning Europa League last year and reaching the DFB Polak final in the current season.
