With Gennaro Gattuso set to leave Milan at the end of the season the management is already at work searching for his substitute.
Whatever the case, Gennaro Gattuso will not be AC Milan’s coach for next season. The recent string of disappointing results has convinced the management to search for a new coach.
Gattuso has a contract with Milan until 2021 but that will not stop the management. Even if Milan qualify for Champions League Rino will leave. The Rossoneri want to bring at San Siro a coach with greater international experience and more ambitious than Gattuso, who however, has achieved decent results in this year and a half of work.
Calciomercato reports that Paolo Maldini’s top pick for the bench is Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri. The former Milan captain is trying to convince his colleagues Leonardo and Gazidis to trust the technical guide of the team to Sarri. Maldini appreciates Sarri’s game style and his ability to enhance young players.
Sarri was close to Milan in the summer of 2015, when Adriano Galliani worked hard to sign him from Empoli. Unfortunately former president Silvio Berlusconi was not convinced and opted for other alternatives. Chelsea and Sarri are expected to part ways at the end of the season and the Italian is eager to return in Serie A.
Furthermore, the arrival of Sarri could help AC Milan purchase Lorenzo Insigne. The Napoli star wants to change club this season and the Rossoneri are among his possible destinations. Working with a familiar face from the past could be a bonus for Milan in the race for the Italian left winger.
