Maldini had closed €18m signing before he left
The summer transfer plans of AC Milan are changing following the exit of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.
The exit of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara has been almost traumatic for the Rossoneri fans across the world. For the way it happened and the disrespectful manner it was announced. Such a decision has created a bad mood inside the squad and at the same time it will have a great impact on the transfer market.
Maldini had started to move on the market quite in advance in order to give Pioli a completed squad to start pre-season preparations as soon as possible. The first signing was supposed to be that of Daichi Kamara who had reached a total agreement on a long-term contract at €3 million per season. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was set to be the second one.
It is no secret that Maldini considered Ruben Loftus-Cheek at the perfect successor of Franck Kessie and as acmilaninfo.com had already reported negotiations were at an advanced stage. The Telegraph reveals today that AC Milan had reached an agreement with Chelsea as well in Maldini’s very last days at the club.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was set to leave Chelsea and join AC Milan for a transfer fee of €18 million. The news of Maldini’s sacking has caught both Loftus-Cheek and Chelsea off guard. Both parties are now waiting to understand if the deal will go through following the revolution that has taken place at the Red and Black club.
The chances are now highly unlikely for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to join AC Milan. The Rossoneri have again turned their attention to the free agent market if reports rumors are to be believed. AC Milan have contacted Youri Tielemans for that position. Tielemans is available after his contract with Leicester City expired this summer.
