Maldini reveals the true reason why AC Milan sold Locatelli
Paolo Maldini opens up on why AC Milan decided to sell Manuel Locatelli. The Italian midfielder now plays for Juventus.
Before the match between Juventus and AC Milan, Paolo Maldini was interviewed by DAZN. The Rossoneri technical director addressed various issues including the renewal talks for Franck Kessie, the situation of Romagnoli and the true reason why AC Milan sold Manuel Locatelli.
On Alessio Romagnoli: “Alessio is a great professional and he is our captain. A team that plays in the Champions League must have 15-16 starting players and Alessio is certainly one of them“.
On Kessie’s renewal: “Did I talk more with Klopp or with Atangana? With Klopp (laughs). Things must be told as they are. We have been talking to Franck’s agent for a year and a half. There have been many occasions and there will be others in the future”.
On the sale of Manuel Locatelli who now plays for Juventus: “I joined the AC Milan management exactly in the week of Manuel Locatelli ‘s sale to Sassuolo. We asked him to stay but he himself asked to leave. Only those who want to stay remain at Milan“.
Paolo Maldini confirms that AC Milan did not plan to sell Locatelli but it was the Italian midfielder who had asked to leave. Locatelli was a product of AC Milan’s youth ranks and played for the Rossoneri for three seasons before moving to Sassuolo for a fee of 14 million euros. This summer he joined Juventus for €37.5 million.
