AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini reveals the Rossoneri’s plans for Donnarumma and promises new signings in January.
AC Milan were three times in advantage but three times Roma bounced back. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a brace tonight with Alexis Saelemaekers scoring the other goal. The referee influenced the final result a lot but AC Milan’s defence was equally guilty in Roma’s three goals.
However, after the match, Paolo Maldini lightened the mood a bit giving some good news for the Rossoneri fans. The AC Milan technical director spoke to Sky Sport about Donnarumma and what the fans should expect from the January transfer market.
“Unfortunately, we have to live with this Coronavirus situation but we are close to reaching herd immunity having had 15 infected players. We are prepared to use players that have played less so far. The (first place in) Serie A standing is not an escape but a confirmation of our good moment, we try to be balanced. We know that difficult times will come but we are ambitious. Young players help a lot because at times they are reckless“.
Donnarumma renewal – “Not considering Gigio a fixed point of this team is absolutely wrong. He is a leader, a captain and the club will try everything to keep him“.
Interventions on the market – “If we have the opportunity to strengthen our team, we will do it otherwise we will remain so. We have set priorities, but if there will be an opportunity to sign a quality player, we will do it. In the last market window we did not spend as much as we could have spent“.
Growth of the team – “In the first part of the season we played games where we played well but where we lost like against Inter. A bit of confidence was missing. Even with Rino, at the decisive moment we lost ourselves. Now thanks also to the coach’s work we have pushed away the idea of being inferior to the others“.
