Paolo Maldini could make a sensational U turn. According to Corriere dello Sport, the chances that the current sporting director remains at AC Milan have increased significantly. Despite the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, the legendary defender could also stay after all.

Under the new scenario, the former captain will no longer take care of the transfer business but would occupy a new role serving as a link between the squad and the management. Il Giornale reports that Ivan Gazidis has already asked Paolo his availability to take a new role at the club.

Despite his disapproval of the German coach, Elliot are trying to avoid at all cost the departure of Paolo Maldini. Since Elliot took over the club, key management figures have changed every year and the project lacks continuity.

Maldini, therefore, is called to make a tough choice. Paolo must decide to remain without an operational role or to go away. But surely, assures the newspaper, he will be fired by Elliott as happened with Zvonimir Boban.

The ball is on Paolo’s side, who has already publicly blasted twice the German manager. The countdown has started, because now less than a month is left at the end of the AC Milan’s season. The Rossoneri will end the season on 2 August and then immediately start a new revolution. Yet another hoping that it will be the last.
