AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini feel disrespected by Ivan Gazidis and Elliott Management for his contract situation and RedBird talks.
Paolo Maldini has played a key part in AC Milan’s revitalisation. The Rossoneri technical director, together with his right-hand man Frederic Massara, build a competitive squad while spending little on the transfer market. A near impeccable work that bore fruits this season with AC Milan finally lifting the Serie A title after eleven years.
Nevertheless, the contracts of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara expire in a few weeks and there has been no signal of renewal so far from Elliott Management. In a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Paolo Maldini did not hide his dsappointment with the attitude of both Ivan Gazidis and Elliott Management.
“Our contracts are about to expire and we have not talked. I must say that for our path and for what has happened in the past even during the period of crisis with Rangnick, I find it disrespectful that to date the CEO and Elliott have not even sat down to talk to us. At least to just talk.
Because they might also tell us “your work was not good enough to continue”. Or it may be that I say “I don’t like your strategy”. As I said at the time, I like to be a sort of guarantee for the Milanista. The reality is that the club owners have never sat down at the table and this is not good“.
A loud and clear message from Paolo Maldini, who expected greater consideration from Elliott and Ivan Gazidis. Probably everything has been put on stand-by pending the change of ownership from Elliott to RedBird Capital.
Maldini has reportedly been informed on the the possible change of ownership and he has said internally that he wants to talk about his contract and the future with the new owners. The Rossoneri technical director would have liked to have been more involved in the Elliott-RedBird discussions on the future of Milan.
