If Donnarumma leaves the Rossoneri, Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Luis Maximiano could replace him at AC Milan.
AC Milan are preparing for life after Gianluigi Donnarumma. Either the Rossoneri have decided to sell Gigio or they just want to be cautious, one thing in certain, Milan are very impressed by Luis Maximiano.
The Sporting Lisbon shot-stopper is one of the goalkeepers that AC Milan see as heir to Gianluigi Donnarumma. The renewal of the current AC Milan number 99 is still far away and the club has started to look for options around.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via MilanLive.it), AC Milan have already moved to sign Luis Maximiano. The Rossoneri are willing to spend 20 million euros to secure the services of the Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper in case Gigio leaves in the summer.
Luis Maximiano is 21 years old and his contract with the Lisbon club expires in June 2023. Since the end of November he has become the regular starter of the Sporting Lisbon and his performances have impressed the Rossoneri scouts. If the sale of Donnarumma really materializes, it could be precisely Maximiano to replaces him between the posts.
However, the Portuguese wonderkid is not the only option. Milan are also observing other targets particularly in Italy where the goalkeepers’ price tags are higher. For example, Juan Musso of Udinese and Alex Meret of Napoli are valued at around 30 million by their respective clubs. Another interesting profile is Alessio Cragno from Cagliari, whose price is lower but still hovers around 20 million.
