The transfer rumor mill never stops turning, so let’s take a look at the latest transfer stories involving AC Milan in recent days…
Alessio Romagnoli could depart for free
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, it would appear that current club captain, Alessio Romagnoli, could be departing the team in the summer on a free transfer.
It has been claimed that the center-back’s current deal – which expires at the end of the season – is unlikely to be extended as there is absolutely no sign of a renewal on the table at the moment, whilst there has not even been an attempt by the player, his representatives or the club to try and come to an agreement.
Indeed, having been at the club since 2015 after joining in a deal that was reportedly worth €25 million from Serie A rivals, AS Roma, the 27-year-old has been an influential figure at the back and has been a crucial component of Stefano Pioli’s squad in helping them to be at the top of the table, as well as reaching the semi-final of the Coppa Italia where they will meet arch-rivals Inter.
Naturally, many will be looking forward to that particular contest, with a number of fans likely to try and take advantage of how competitive the game will be by using the available odds that will be found on one of the best online soccer betting Canada platforms to bet on.
It could end up being the last Coppa Italia fixture that Romagnoli plays for the Rossoneri, though, as the club are reluctant to offer him a renewal that could be worth €2 million a season, despite not wanting to lose him on a free.
Jonathan David a target of interest
In other transfer news, Canada international forward, Jonathan David, continues to be linked with a move to the San Siro in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is currently plying his trade at LOSC Lille in France’s Ligue 1 where he has been rather impressive. In the 2020/21 season, he helped the club to the title after netting 13 goals in his 37 appearances, whilst he has been in good form this year as he has 12 goals in 25 matches so far.
Allegedly watched by scouts in the French side’s defeat to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter earlier in the week, David was unable to be as effective as he had been in previous fixtures, as he has scored three times in seven games.
He will have recently put a number of teams on high alert after it was revealed that he has no plans to stay with Lille beyond the summer, and according to a report by Calciomercato, the Rossoneri are one side that is interested in acquiring him.
However, he is going to cost them a rather pretty sum of money, although that will have been expected given how prolific he is despite his age. According to the report, it has been claimed that Lille will only let him go for a transfer fee that is said to be around €60 million plus additional bonuses that could see the price skyrocket.
It could be argued that AC Milan needs to add a new striker to their club in the summer given that they have two experienced heads in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud currently leading the line.
Nonetheless, they could have some trouble trying to convince him to join them, as clubs such as Inter, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Newcastle United are all thought to be interested in signing David.
David is not the only Lille player on AC Milan’s radar
However, a report from Gazzetta dello Sport is suggesting that two other Lille players are on the Rossoneri’s radar this summer, after having failed in their pursuit to land the duo in the January transfer window.
The Italian media outlet claims that both Sven Botman and Renato Sanches remain players of interest for the Serie A outfit, with the two individuals highlighted as men that will replace Romagnoli and Franck Kessie, with both players out of contract this summer.
Once again, they will come at a premium, though, with it expected that a further €60 million would be needed to acquire them. If they were to add David to that, over €120 million would need to be spent on signing those three players.
