Juventus have made a bid to sign AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli offering Daniele Rugani in exchange plus cash.
Juventus are on the hunt for reinforcements in defence. With Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci close to the end of their careers, the Bianconeri are already working to find a long-term partner for Matthijs De Ligt in the heart of the defence.
Alessio Romagnoli is one of the top options that sporting director Paratici is considering. It is no secret that Juventus are big admirers of the AC Milan captain. In the past few years Juve made another attempt for the 25-year-old centre back but the desire of Alessio Romagnoli was to stay at Milan.
According to the latest rumors, Paratici would have offered Daniele Rugani in exchange for Romagnoli plus an unknown figure in cash. AC Milan will hardly accept such an offer.
Rugani is a good defender but certainly not at the level of Alessio Romagnoli. Once a promising player, Rugani has failed to impose himself at Juventus. If Milan were to really considered selling their captain that would be for a cash-only figure of at least €50 million.
In any case, the renewal of the defender also risks becoming a soap opera shortly, just like for Donnarumma. The current deal of the Italy international expires in June 2022. There is time to negotiate, but not too much. However Romagnoli, as a true captain, is very close to Red and Black colors and in the past has rejected inquiries from other European top clubs.
The Rossoneri purchased Alessio Romagnoli in 2015 from Roma for a hefty figure of €25 million as a precise request of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. In his five season at San Siro the former Roma centre back has made more than 180 appearances with AC Milan scoring 7 goals along the way.
