AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will leave on a free transfer. The 28-year-old will not extend his contract.
AC Milan decided to show the door to Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Rossoneri decided not to match his contract demands and the same is about to happen with Hakan Calhanoglu. The story has come to an end.
Journalists Carlo Pellegatti confirms that Calhanoglu will leave AC Milan in the coming days. Apparently the 27-year-old has decided to accept the rich offer he has received from Qatar club Al Duhail.
“Milan and Hakan have reached the end. The Rossoneri have not heard from Calhanoglu anymore. The player is currently with the Turkish national team preparing for the upcoming EURO 2020. The rich offer he has received from Qatar is true. Maybe not with those figures – 8 million immediately plus 24 million in three years – but the offer from Qatar is there and it’s quite tempting. The player looks likely to accept and move to Qatar”.
Despite being an inconsistent player, the Turkey international has been a key figure for AC Milan since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 for around 24 million euros. This season Hakan scored 9 goals and assisted 12 in 43 appearances. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are already working to find his replacement.
Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul is the top transfer target of AC Milan. The Argentine attacking midfielder has the perfect characteristics to replace Calhanoglu. Udinese are demanding a high transfer fee of 40 million euros but the inclusion of Jens Peter Hauge could help Milan reach an agreement.
