The Italian journalist is convinced that Antonio Conte would gladly accept to join AC Milan next summer for two reasons.
The position of Stefano Pioli is again in bid doubt after AC Milan’s Champions League elimination. The Rossoneri were the weaker side in the first half but managed to overturn the result in the second and secure a 2-1 victory against Newcastle. Milan end their Champions League adventure in third place and will continue to play in Europa League.
The club has confirmed Stefano Pioli in his role but something has changed. The Italian coach has clearly lost AC Milan’s confidence in him and it seems like Pioli’s exit is just a matter of time. The Rossoneri have already scouted names like Thiago Motta, Raffaele Palladino and Antonio Conte but everyone wants to join a new club only for the new season in the summer of 2024.
Antonio Conte is obviously the most fascinating name. The Italian coach is a serial winner and has proven his worth at Serie A with Juventus and Inter and in England with Chelsea. Despite his high salary demands, journalist Michele Criscitiello is convinced that Conte’s appointment as AC Milan is a real possibility and two specific reasons are in favor of the Rossoneri.
“Two years ago you AC Milan had to get Roberto De Zerbi and he is out of reach. Today they have only one solution: Keep Stefano Pioli until the end of the season and thank him for his work. Then is time to make room for Antonio Conte. Conte must be the future of AC Milan. Is it possible? If Milan comes up with the money, Conte would 100% join AC Milan for two reasons. He wants to return to Italy and because he wants to go to Milan“, said Criscitiello.
On Conte’s possible preference for the Juventus job, the journalist assured: “I do not believe that Juventus is his priority. I believe that Conte wants Milan, he cannot return to Inter and I believe that he regrets how he ended his relationship with Inter. If they convince him with the project, with 2 or 3 players that he wants and with some money, Conte can represent the future of AC Milan. But until June it will be Pioli in charge“.
The 52-year-old former midfielder has never hidden his desire to return and coach in Serie A. Antonio Conte would prefer to live in Italy in order to be closer to his family and for this reason is reportedly open to accept a reduced salary. At the same time, having the chance to win the Scudetto with AC Milan, after having done the same with Inter and Juventus, would give Antonio Conte a special record that no one has achieved until now.
