Ibra reveals how Milan could have convinced Donnarumma to stay
Zlatan Ibrahimovic offered his take on the Donnarumma saga saying he would have stayed if AC Milan had given him the rich contract he was asking.
Despite his 40 years of age Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains one of the most lethal strikers in Serie A. If fit, the Swedish giant is able to produce goals at any times as demonstrated by the fantastic free kick scored against Genoa in yesterday’s 3-0 victory.
After the match, Ibrahimovic was interviewed by the journalists. Zlatan talked on a number of topics starting from his potential contract renewal to the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
“Gigio is a great goalkeeper. If they (AC Milan) had given him what he was asking for, he would have stayed at Milan. Now he has to make a mess in order to play at PSG. It’s not ok that the South Americans impose to play that other one (Keylor Navas). Gigio is stronger“, said Ibrahimovic.
Gianlugi Donnarumma left AC Milan at the end of last season on a free transfer to join PSG. The Italian goalkeeper refused to renew with the Rossoneri because he was not given a contract of 12 million euros per season. The Rossoneri refused the blackmail of Donnarumma and his agent Mino Raiola.
AC Milan replaced Donnarumma with Mike Maignan. The former Lille has been fantastic in his first year at San Siro recording some excellent performances with the Red and Blacks. The French goalkeeper is the present and the future of AC Milan.
