Ibra and Rebic in clash with Leao and Paqueta on new coach

AC Milan players

AC Milan players are split in the support of the Rossoneri coach. Most are loyal to Pioli while other would prefer Ralf Rangnick.

Pioli or Rangnick? That is the question. On one hand, the current AC Milan coach, who has been able to revive the squad after taking over from Marco Giampaolo, on the other the German who has rigid and sometimes bizarre methods, but who knows how to enhance young players like few others. Who are Romagnoli and co supporting? La Gazzetta dello Sport offers an update of the different opinions withing the team.

NEUTRALS AND SUPPORTERS OF RANGNICK – The AC Milan captain and Donnarumma could be in the middle. After all, they would be regular starters regardless the name of the coach. As well as Theo Hernandez, another pillar of Milan (nobody would renounce the French full back). Among the “neutrals” there would also be Kessie and Calhanoglu, who could also find space with another coach.

The change on the bench, however, could be useful to Rafael Leao, who has ended up on the bench with Stefano Pioli. With Rangnick at the helm of Milan the Portuguese striker could finally make the much desired leap forward in quality. As well as Lucas Paqueta, who could find new life with a new coach.

PRO PIOLI – Ibrahimovic and Rebic would instead be big supporters of Pioli. Zlatan and the current coach have established a good relationship. Pioli immediately put him on the pitch and was rewarded in a big way. If he stays on the Milan bench, the chances of seeing Ibra again at Milan would also increase.

Same goes for Rebic, who has become a key player of the team. The Croatian winger also worked with Rangnick at Leipzig (the German was sporting director at that time) and the experience was far from positive. Finally, among the most faithful of Pioli are Conti, Bennacer and Castillejo, players who benefited greatly from the work of the Emilian coach.
