Genoa vs Milan, probable lineups
Coach Marco Giampaolo is planning some changes for Genoa vs Milan but there will be no overhaul in attack.
For many, Genoa vs Milan represents Marco Giampaolo’s last chance to save his job. With four defeats in the first six rounds of Serie A, another negative result could mean the end of the line for the Italian coach.
Several adjustments will be made for this match. A guaranteed change will be in defence given the suspension of Mateo Musacchio for one match. Leo Duarte will finally make hist first minute debut in Genoa vs Milan. The Brazilian centre back represented for the first time the Rossoneri in the second-half against Fiorentina last Sunday.
The presence of Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts is certain with captain Romagnoli and Davide Calabria in front of him. However, the name of the starting left-back is not yet clear. For the moment, Theo Hernandez is in advantage over Ricardo Rodriguez but it’s a very tight race.
Lucas Biglia makes his return in midfield. Considering Bennacer’s horrendous performance against Fiorentina (two penalties caused), Giampaolo will rely on the Argentine’s experience. Lucas Paqueta will replace Calhanoglu on the left with Franck Kessie on the right.
Unlike what initially reported, there will be no overhaul in attack. Despite not going through a positive moment, Giampaolo will rely again on Suso and Piatek. The Italian hopes that Piatek’s return to Genoa will be fruitful and inspiring. The presence of Rafael Leao is not in discussion. The young Portuguese striker seems to be the only one able to create something in attack recently.
