Alessandro Florenzi will be AC Milan’s new right back but for the match against Sampdoria he will likely debut in midfield.
As reported by acmilaninfo.com. AC Milan have completed the signing of Alessandro Florenzi from Roma. The 30-year-old Italian versatile player arrives on loan with the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for a total fee of 5.5 million euros.
The former Roma full back is notorious for his flexibility. Throughout his career he has occupied the entire right flank plus many roles in midfield. The intention of the Rossoneri is to have the European champion compete with Davide Calabria for the right back position.
Nevertheless, his debut could come in midfield. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that, for the match against Sampdoria, Stefano Pioli will hardly touch the four defensive players who have played together for a long time. That’s why Florenzi’s first chance could be in midfield.
During his Roma days, Alessandro Florenzi has played for a long time as right midfielder or winger. For Monday’s Serie A debut match, the 30-year-old will challenge Alexis Saelemaekers for a spot in Stefano Pioli’s eleven with Castillejo out of the picture.
Meanwhile, Florenzi will land in Milano today to undergo medical tests and sign his new contract with the Rossoneri. For the remaining days of the summer transfer window the management will be concentrated on finding a new attacking midfielder and another winger.
