AC Milan are looking at two Serie A players to replace the injured Simon Kjaer. Both Luiz Felipe and Milenkovic are available at favorable conditions.
AC Milan have an unexpected problem in their hands. The Rossoneri announced today that the season is very likely over for Simon Kjaer who will be sidelined for around six months. Tomori, Romagnoli and Gabbia are the other centre backs available to Pioli but that’s not enough for a squad that aims to win the Scudetto.
AC Milan must turn their eyes to the market to find a proper replacement for Kjaer. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Maldini and Massara believe that a new defender arriving from Serie A would be the ideal solution. Someone experienced that is already familiar with Italian football and two names stand out.
That first is that of Luiz Felipe. The Brazilian centre back has been playing for Lazio for the past 5 seasons collecting over 120 appearances with the Biancocelesti. The good news for AC Milan is that the €20 million rated defender has refused to extend his contract with Lazio. Luiz Felipe becomes a free agent at the end of the season so selling him in January represents Lazio’s only chance of profiting something from his sale.
The other name on Maldini’s list is that of Nikola Milenkovic. The 24-year-old Serbian defender was very close to joining AC Milan last summer. His contract with Fiorentina expires in 2023 but there’s a gentlemen agreement between the parties that Milenkovic could leave Fiorentina if an offer of 15 million euros arrives.
The Rossoneri will evaluate carefully their options their options until the winter transfer window opens. If AC Milan manage to progress into the knock-out stage of Champions League, Maldini will have abundant funds at his disposal to strengthen the squad considerably and not only in defence.
