Gazzetta: Verona 0-1 AC Milan, player ratings
Krzysztof Piatek scores his first goal of the season but the performance of many Rossoneri players in Hellas Verona vs AC Milan could be considered a failure.
Verona-Milan ends 0-1 for the guests. Another three points secured for AC Milan but the end result can’t hide the ugly performance of the Rossoneri especially against a team that played for more than one hour with ten men.
Davide Calabria, Ricardo Rodriguez, Lucas Paqueta and Suso (5.5 according to La Gazzetta dello Sport) flopped hard yesterday. Especially the last two, Paqueta and Suso, were utterly chaotic in attack and demonstrated a worrisome lack of harmony. Once again the trequartista experiment is considered a complete failure.
The good news, once again, is the excellent performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 20-year-old giant keeps Milan in the game with some great saves, especially in the second half, but is awarded with only a 6. Without a doubt the best among the Rossoneri in Verona-Milan. Romagnoli and Musacchio form a compact central duo (both 6) but the situation is different on the flanks with Calabria punished with a red card and Rodriguez failing to control Valerio Verre.
6 for Frank Kessie and Lucas Biglia while 6.5 for an excellent Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish midfielder makes another pleasing performance after the one against Bresica and the entire department could be said that made a good job.
Finally Krzysztof Piatek (6) found the back of the net. The Polish striker transforms in goal a penalty and scored a second that was cancelled by VAR. Perhaps with a little more help from Paqueta and Suso he could have done even better. Marco Giampaolo gets a 6 according to La Gazzetta, the Italian coach understands that the team is not doing well in the 4-3-1-2 formation and turns to the old 4-3-3 with better results. Now it’s time to think about the upcoming derby against Inter.
