Antonio Conte remains Marco Fassone’s biggest wish for AC Milan’s bench. The rossoneri continue to hold contacts with the Chelsea coach.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the future of Antonio Conte will be in Serie A. After the defeat in the derby yesterday against West Ham, for the former Juventus coach it becomes increasingly likely his farewell to Chelsea and the return to Italy. After Inter’s courtship – writes the journalist Mimmo Cugini of La Gazzetta – even AC Milan knocked on Conte’s door, when Montella was in his last days at the rossoneri and Antonio’s goodbye to Chelsea seemed imminent.
It seems difficult to hypothesize a third season for Conte at Stamford Bridge, more likely that in spring the former azzurri coach takes into consideration the proposals that have already arrived and will come again from CEO Marco Fassone and maybe even those from the Italian national team, where everyone is waiting for the election of the new president.
It remains to be seen what the fate of new coach Gennaro Gattuso will be, even though many expect Rino to lead the rossoneri only until summer. Antonio Conte’s decision will be definitely influenced by AC Milan’s positioning at the end of the season and the economic availability the club will offer to the former Juventus player and coach.
