Gazzetta: AC Milan’s top priorities for January

AC Milan have already planned their next moves on the transfer market and renewals claims Gazzetta dello Sport.

AC Milan are preparing for the upcoming league match against Hellas Verona after the Europa League fiasco with Lille. Stefano Pioli and his boys are focused only on the pitch, while the management at via Aldo Rossi are working for the January transfer market.

The Rossoneri have already planned their next moves in the winter transfer window. The name of the targets are yet to be discovered but an important signing is expected in defence. That will be the priority of the club while the purchase of another centre forward to serve as Ibra’s back up is being considered reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. Except two new signings the other top priority of the club are renewals.

The management is also working on the renewals of Gigio Donnarumma, Hakan Calhanoglu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contracts will expire on June 30th. Time is running out, but, as Paolo Maldini admitted yesterday before the match against Lille, every moment is the good one to sign. “Every week is the good one for renewals. We are in contact, we have based everything with an extreme clarity and we are moving forward in the various negotiations“.

However, the situation is not the simple and progress has not been made on either front for different reasons. Gigio Donnarumma wants to become one of the highest earners in Italy, not only at AC Milan. Raiola demands 10 million while Milan seem oriented to offer him around 7 million plus bonuses.

The renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu was an unexpected problem for the club. The Rossoneri were stunned by his 6.5 million wages demand and so far have not gone beyond 3.5 million plus bonuses. A compromise could be reached at 4 million but Milan have no intention to go beyond that figure.

On Ibrahimovic the problem is of another nature. Maldini would love to offer him a new contract immediately but the Swedish striker has stated that such talks can happen only at the end of the season. It will be Zlatan to decide whether his body can allow him to play for one more year at the highest levels.
