Gennaro Gattuso is enjoying the latest success of AC Milan but Rino has a particular regret about one moment in his early days as Rossoneri coach.
Serie A 2017/18 has just ended and the Rossoneri have closed the season in 6th place securing Europa League qualification directly from the group stage. Today’s thrashing 5-1 victory against Fiorentina was a great way to end the season but coach Gattuso believes that his team could have done better this year.
When asked about what was his biggest failure as coach of the Red and Blacks, Rino replied: “I have learned from every match but there is one in particular (Benevento-Milan)… While preparing the game with my staff I could feel that my team at that moment mentally was down. I didn’t feel the team as my own”.
“In the last training session i could understand that our opponent could hurt us easily. My biggest error was that I perceived, I sensed that team had not understood, perhaps I wasn’t clear, what we were about to face and what it means to play for AC Milan. I regret not raising the voice to my players at the time but I did it latter”.
