AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso is considering changing Andrea Conti’s role and deploying the right-back in a more advanced position.
One of the big merits of today’s Milan is that Gennaro Gattuso has practically found the perfect balance for the team, deploying in the last three consecutive games always the same convincing eleven.
But the AC Milan coach has also received criticism for some of his choices. One of these is called Andrea Conti, the 24 year old right-back is one of the most talented defenders in Serie A. He is a young, dynamic and completed full-back, a player that every club would envy.
Today, in the press conference pre Milan-Empoli, Gattuso was also asked about the use of Conti, who has returned after two long knee injuries that kept him out for a year and a half but is finding less space than expected even due to the excellent performances of Davide Calabria.
In training these days, however, Conti was also tried in some circumstances in attack as an alternative to Jesus Suso, who is suspended in the match against Empoli. It seems unlikely though that Gattuso uses the former Atalanta as right winger for tomorrow: “He has the characteristics to do it, it can be an idea to defend the result but for now let him in his role that he plays well. As fifth men in midfield he is great, he performed really well at Atalanta in that position”.
Coach Gennaro Gattuso does not seem willing to change or experiment against Empoli so will likely rely on Samu Castillejo to replace Suso. However the fact that Rino has already tried him as winger in different training sessions demonstrates that he’s really considering this idea.
