Gattuso and club clash for the future of Ricardo Rodriguez
AC Milan full back Ricardo Rodriguez has finished on the market. A couple of clubs want to bring the Swiss defender back in Germany and the Rossoneri are ready to negotiate.
It is widely expected than an important players leaves AC Milan this summer. The club is forced to make a sacrifice due to economic reasons and thus a first team regular is sure to depart. But while everyone expects that the expendable to be one between Donnarumma, Suso or Andre Silva, surprisingly it may be Ricardo Rodriguez who may return in Germany.
The two German giants of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are interested in the Swiss left back. Both clubs are prepared to make their respective offers for the 25 year old defender after the World Cup. Last year the Rossoneri paid 18 million euros to snatch him from Wolfsburg.
The problem is that Gennaro Gattuso favors Rodriguez. The coach has asked the management to keep him at San Siro with Ivan Strinic serving as his substitute. Rino doesn’t want to change many players for next season and instead keep the backbone of the team while adding 3-4 quality elements to improve the squad. It is no coincidence that the Swiss played almost 50 games the past season.
The current situation of the club, however, requires an assessment of any offer and this case is not an exception. Despite their coach’s will the Red and Blacks are open to negotiations. In the last hours the names of Cristiano Biraghi of Fiorentina and Diego Laxalt of Genoa (read here) have emerged as possible replacements for the Swiss.
