Former AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has emerged as one of the possible names to replace under-fire Marco Giampaolo
Not even the biggest skeptic could foresee that AC Milan would occupy the 16th spot in Serie A standing after six rounds. With just two wins and four defeats, the Rossoneri are in the midst of a catastrophic moment.
Normally the fans, and not only, blame coach Marco Giampaolo for this situation. The match against Genoa will be his last opportunity but even a win may not be enough to save his job. Many names have begun to circulate as his replacement including former coach Gennaro Gattuso.
Prestigious names like Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Spalleti and Massimiliano Allegri are considered out of budget while Claudio Ranieri and Rudi Garcia are seen as more realistic targets. Nevertheless, there is a real chance that Giampaolo’s successor could be his predecessor Gattuso .
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rino’s work is being seen with a different eye this season. The club and football experts are considering his tenure as AC Milan coach, and the fact that his squad (young and without experience just like Giampaolo’s) finished just one point behind Inter and Atalanta, as a semi-miracle from the former midfielder.
However, Gennaro Gattuso would only take into consideration an offer only if it arrives directly from Elliot and not from Boban and Maldini. Gattuso resigned this summer after the club failed to accept his demands regarding the transfer targets he wanted to sign.
