Former AC Milan striker blasts the signing of Bailly

AC Milan are negotiating the signing of Manchester United defender Eric Bailly but some are not convinced by the Ivory Coast international.

It is well known that AC Milan are looking for a new central defender. Simon Kjaer’s serious injury was followed by Fikayo Tomori’s one-month break. The management has no other option but to intervene to complete Stefano Pioli’s defence. Eric Bailly is considered the frontrunner for the job.

The 27-year-old centre back has reportedly accepted a move to AC Milan. Manchester United are open to let him leave on loan but the two clubs have a different opini0on on what the permanent signing fee in favor of the Rososneri should be. However, the name of Eric Bailly is not considered is good addition by many.

Among those who are not exactly convinced that Bailly could make a difference at AC Milan is Paolo Di Canio. The former Rossoneri striker, an attentive observer of the Premier League, advises Maldini and Massara against his signing. “Anyone who arrives in Serie A does well because they arrive from higher leagues. But Bailly did have physical problems. And he’s not a Tomori kind of defender. He falls asleep sometimes, takes risks and isn’t that fierce at a competitive level. He can do well but he is not Tomori who came with the desire to explode“, said Di Canio.

Di Canio has serious doubts about the value the Manchester United defender could bring to Stefano Pioli’s side. During his spell at United, Bailly has had to miss many games for various muscle, head and ankle injuries. While at one point he had to undergo knee surgery.

Despite talks progressing well with Manchester United, AC Milan are keeping other tracks alive. Names like Abdou Diallo, Nicolo Casale, Arthur Theate, Omeragic and Malang Sarr remain valid alternatives for the Rossoneri.
