AC Milan announced that star defender Alessio Romagnoli had signed a new agreement with the club despite interest from other big European clubs.
Yesterday, AC Milan centre back Alessio Romagnoli penned a new long term contract with the club. According to the new deal the talented Italian will stay at San Siro at least until 2022. A much welcomed news for the Rossoneri after a difficult period of negotiations with UEFA.
Amid interest from Real Madrid and Juventus (both read to pay 60 million euros for him), Romagnoli decided to stay faithful to the Red and Blacks. When announcing the renewal of the 23 year old’s contract, club CEO Marco Fassone revealed that he laughed at the clubs interested in the defender. Juventus CEO Marota went as far as to declare that “If Romagnoli is sold, he will be sold to Juventus“.
“We are here with Massimiliano Mirabelli and Romagnoli, it is with pride and pleasure that we announce Alessio’s stay for another four years with an extended contract. Reading the newspapers, we laughed, as the agreement with Alessio was completed weeks ago“, Fassone concluded. While Mirabelli hailed Romagnoli as one of the best defender in the world.
