The AC Milan centre forward will put pen to paper on a new deal until 2024 with a salary of around €3.4 million per season.
Age is just a number for AC Milan centre forward Olivier Giroud. The French striker has scored 9 goals and assisted 5 in 19 appearances for the Italian champions. In addition, Giroud is playing a crucial role for his national team with 3 goals in 3 appearances at the Qatar World Cup.
His latest strike made Olivier Giroud the top scorer in the history of France with 52 goals overcoming Thierry Henry’s long standing record. His great form has not gone unnoticed by the Rossoneri management who will extend Olivier’s contract for one more season.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that all details are completed to the French striker to put pen to paper on a new deal until 2024. “Olivier Giroud is set to extend his contract with AC Milan immediately after the World Cup. New deal proposal will be ready in order to get the documents signed done as soon as possible”, says Romano.
The French striker himself hinted that the contract renewal with AC Milan is just a matter of time. “My future at AC Milan? You know what I think about this. Now I’m focused only on the World Cup, but as soon as I get back to Milan I’ll talk to Maldini and Massara” – assured Olivier Giroud.
Giroud’s contract extension means that Milan have scrapped away their plans for two signings in attack. Only one striker will be added to Pioli’s roster during the summer transfer window.
