Everton Soares explains his failed transfer to Milan
Brazilian star winger Everton Soares was very close to joining AC Milan this summer but a deal never materialized.
MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – Everton Soares was among the many names linked with a move to AC Milan this summer. Particularly in the last days of the summer transfer window, the Rossoneri made a late attempt to bring the Brazilian winger at San Siro but the timing was not convenient for either party.
Everton has remained in Brazil and will continue to play with Gremio. Busy with his national team, the 23-year-old left winger commented on his failed move to AC Milan: “I am not disappointed, on the contrary. When I leave it will mean that it will be a good thing for me and for the club, the offer did not satisfy both parties. I don’t think I should be anxious, everything comes at the right time“.
AC Milan made a concrete attempt to sign Everton Soares but with only a few days at their disposal it was impossible to agree a transfer fee. Three other subjects, except Gremio, own a percentage of the player’s card and the Rossoneri were forced to reach separate agreements with each party. Something that would have pushed Everton’s transfer fee way beyond €40 million.
According to recent reports, Everton remains on AC Milan’s orbit and the Rossoneri could make another bid when the winter transfer window opens in January. Another season as a protagonist with Gremio will help the talented winger cement his status as the most promising forward in South America.
Under Marco Giampaolo’s game system, Soares, who is a natural left winger, can play if necessary as second striker or attacking midfielder. A player of Everton’s caliber would certainly improve the dangerousness of Milan’s attacking unit.
