The agent of Gremio star Everton Soares confirms that AC Milan were very close to signing the Brazilian winger when Leonardo was part of the club.
MILAN NEWS – Everton Soares is without a doubt the most important talent in Brazil today. The Gremio star in Copa America showed his full potential making people forget about Neymar and guiding Brazil to triumph.
AC Milan was among the first clubs to show interest in Cebolinha with former sporting Leonardo practically closing his signing months ago. It was not an easy operation with Gremio asking for around 40 million for Everton euros but his price tag has risen ever since.
Marcelo Serafini, agent of the 23-year-old Gremio left winger, in an interview with Il Mattino discussed the future of Everton Soares. “Arsenal were very interested on the player before singing Pepe, while with Milan there were advanced talk with Leonardo before he bid farewell to the Rossoneri.
I can tell you that Juventus too have requested information. If players like Cuadrado and Douglas Costa leave, Everton is the first name Paratici has on his list. We have also been contacted by Napoli last weekend, we are waiting to see if the club is ready to make Gremio an official offer“.
Leonardo had agreed the signing of Everton Soares but after his farewell negotiations fell through. The arrival of Marco Giampaolo on the bench and the use of 4-3-1-2 lineup meant that Milan didn’t need a new winger anymore. Strategies changed and Maldini with Boban shifted heir focue on other transfer targets.
