Europa League: AC Milan’s possible opponents
On Monday, AC Milan will learn the name of their next opponent in Europa League after qualifying as head of group D. We break down all the possible adversaries.
Despite the shameful 2-0 defeat against the Croatian side of Rijeka, AC Milan qualified for the knockout round of Europa League as head of group D with 3 wins, 2 draws and one defeat. This competition is considered is the life saver for this season: Winning Europa League would mean direct qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Getting to the end is not easy. There are very strong teams, especially from this moment onwards where several teams ranked third in their respective Champions League groups will participate: teams like Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Napoli for example. Next Monday will be held the draw and AC Milan, despite their qualification in first place, is likely to take opponents difficult to deal with.
The most dangerous are certainly the Germans of Borussia Dortmund, who came out of Champions League after fighting in a group with giants like Real Madrid and Tottenham. Spartak Moscow of former rossoneri player Luiz Adriano, Celtic Glasgow, the French trio of Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Real Sociedad are among the most dangerous teams that could challenge Milan. The most affordable opponents would be Astana, Partizan, Ludogorets, Copenhagen, Steaua Bucharest, Red Star and Ostersunds.
