Elliott block AC Milan’s January mercato

Paolo Maldini wants to purchase Sven Botman from Lille but Elliott Management have not yet decided a budget.

The first half of the season has just finished with AC Milan in second place, four points behind Inter. Injuries aside, the Rossoneri have proven they can challenge for the Scudetto this season and with a couple of new signings Stefano Pioli’s side can turn the situation in their favor.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara’s main duty in January is going to be find a substitute for Simon Kjaer. The Denmark defender will stay our for at least six months so a quality centre back must arrive to complete the back line. Lille star Sven Botman is Maldini’s top pick for the job.

The 21-year-old Netherlands international had a breakthrough year with Lille helping the French side win Ligue 1 and the Super Cup last season. A tall and powerful defender that would be the perfect partner for Fikayo Tomori according to Paolo Maldini. However, Maldini’s hands are tied.

While Paolo would like to bring Botman in Italy, the defender has a price tag of around 30 million euros. The Rossoneri have yet to make a move for the Lille star because of Elliott Management. Calciomercato.com reports that the American have blocked AC Milan’s mercato because they have yet to decide the January transfer budget.

The winter shopping window opens in a few days and Maldini hasn’t been given a budget yet. Elliott’s slowness could have a negative impact on Botman’s pursuit. Newcastle are very interested in the Dutch talent and are offering Botman a very rich contract to convince him to join the Premier League side.
