AC Milan owners Elliot are accusing Paolo Maldini for the flop of Lucas Paqueta who cost the club €38.4 million.
AC Milan can’t find tranquility even amid the Coronavirus crisis. The departure of Zvonimir Boban hasn’t been enough to find serenity among the management and now Paolo Maldini is the new target of Elliot and Ivan Gazidis.
The signing of Lucas Paqueta, although designed by Leonardo, is one of the accuses Maldini faces from Elliott. According to Tuttosport via (MilanNews.it) the AC Milan owners have included the purchase of the Brazilian midfielder among the errors of the current technical director.
AC Milan spent €38.4 million to purchase Paqueta from Flamengo but the results have been rather disappointing. At the end of the year the midfielder will weight just over 25 million on the club’s books. Milan, therefore, to avoid a loss, will have to find a club willing to invest at least that amount.
The 22-year-old midfielder has made just 17 appearances this season but mostly as a substitute. In 2020 Paqueta has made just first minute start. After a good start of his career at Milan with Gattuso, the Brazilian failed to impress under Marco Giampaolo and Stefano Pioli.
The rest of the season is not expected to be better for Paqueta. In the summer the former Flamengo should find a new destination but interest from PSG, Napoli and Juventus seems to have cooled off.
