Sky: Elliot increases AC Milan’s summer transfer budget
Sky Sport reveals that Elliot has increased AC Milan’s summer transfer budget. Maldini will have more money to invest on the market.
MILAN NEWS- AC Milan are in a delicate phase of their recent history. After the change of ownership last summer, with zero programming given the very short deadlines, in recent months Elliott has been able to evaluate various situations, including the summer transfer budget.
In October the new owners decided to entrust the role of club CEO to Ivan Gazidis, who officially took the position from December 2018. That was the first true choice of the American fund. From that moment, Gazidis began to evaluate everything, and proposed the role of technical director (first entrusted to Leonardo, who resigned a few weeks ago) to Paolo Maldini, who has accepted despite the official announcement missing. Now the legendary AC Milan captain is looking for a sporting director (Igli Tare remains his first option) while Marco Giampaolo will be the new coach.
According to Sky Sport 24, Elliott has increased the budget available for the summer transfer window. The budget will go from 25 million to 45 million euros, to which must be added every euro AC Milan will earn from sales.
Among the players that may leave AC Milan this summer there is Jesus Suso, who is being followed by the likes of Altletico Madrid. Gigio Donnarumma, on the other hand, is not for sale, but important offers are expected to arrive. And if they arrive, they will be taken into consideration. PSG are very interested in the Italian goalkeeper and are believed to preparing a bid of over €60 million.
The increase of the transfer budget was one of Paolo Maldini’s conditions to accept the role of technical director. Sky reports that Elliott initially had planned to invest only 25 million but the new figure of 45 million will allow Maldini more room to move on the market. AC Milan are expected to sign several players in every department this summer. The club’s goal remains Champions League qualification for next season so it’s necessary to give Giampaolo a competitive team immediately.
