AC Milan are finally in the race for the Scudetto after so many years but Elliot’s support could be their key to their title hopes.

With the January transfer window opening in a few days AC Milan are expected to be one of the most active Italian clubs. The Rossoneri are looking for a new defender, midfielder and striker. New signings could be key to helping Milan fight for the Scudetto this season.

In an editorial for Corriere dello Sport, journalist Franco Order reports an interesting dilemma for Elliot. In such a crucial period for the Rossoneri, the January mercato could have great impact on AC Milan’s final standing at the end of the season.

Maldini and Massara have the opportunity to improve the squad with targeted and useful purchases the can really give a boost in the Scudetto fight. Plus the Rossoneri are playing in three competitions.

Elliott have a very big dilemma like last summer when Gazidis decided to trust Pioli and abandon the Rangnick project. A move that turned out to be perfect. Now at Milan the situation is totally different but of equal importance. Everyone is rowing on the same side, from Gazidis to Maldini, Pioli and Massara but Elliot is not convinced.

The American owners of AC Milan have to decide whether to make important investment on the mercato to increase considerable the level of the squad or just fill the gaps with cheap sustainable signings that may still be useful. The difficult economic situation seem to be pushing Elliot towards the second options.
