Elliot change idea on Ibra’s back-up
AC Milan owner Elliot Management does not favor the signing of a new striker in the January transfer window.
The recent injuries of Zlatan Ibrahimovic have highlighted again AC Milan’s need to buy a centre forward. A new striker would be very useful to coach Stefano Pioli.
Paolo Maldini has publicly said that the focus of Milan is on the forwards who are already in the team. From Ante Rebic to Rafael Leao, also passing through Lorenzo Colombo and his son Daniel. Maldini downplayed the hypothesis of signing a new striker but if an opportunity presents itself things could change.
Several strikers have already been linked with a move to AC Milan. The first was Luka Jovic of Real Madrid who has a hefty price tag and salary cost. Then it was the turn of Gianluca Scamacca, who is doing well on loan to Genoa and but Sassuolo values him 20 million euros. The latest name is that Celtic striker Edouard but his price of around 30 million doesn’t reflect the current economic situation.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the search for Ibrahimovic’s back-up is not a priority for AC Milan. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are busy in talks for a new centre back and then it will be the midfielder’s turn.
Elliott Management has decided to spend for a new striker only if there is an opportunity to be seized. Only if there Rossoneri were to sign a young player who could serve the club for many years in the future. Maldini and Massara are favoring the signing of a veteran player with past experience in Serie A that can be a temporary solution for six months. Elliot disagrees.
