AC Milan continue to hold talks for the signing of Jonathan David who will surely leave Lille next year.

AC Milan have received positive responses from the majority of the new signings in recent weeks. Stefano Pioli’s squad are back to the top of Serie A after the Genoa win. A testament to the good work that the Rossoneri management has done during the summer adding significant depth to the squad. Yet, something is missing.

AC Milan plan to sign an important name for the attack next year. Lille star Jonthan David is one of the top players on AC Milan’s list of transfer targets. The Rossoneri made an attempt in the last days of the summer window but it was unsuccessful. However, talks between Milan and the Canadian international have not stopped.

The race for the services of Jonathan David is a busy one but Milan have the player as their ally. Italian journalist Daniele Longo reports that 23-year-old striker has already said yes to a possible transfer to AC Milan. Jonathan David will surely leave Lille at the end of the season and the Rossoneri hope his willingness to join Milan will influence negotiations in a big way. After all, the player’s desire is often the most important factor that decides a transfer.

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani could be the key for AC Milan’s hopes to purchase Jonathan David according to Daniele Longo. Furlani has fostered a great relationship with the executives of the French club. Lille hope to ignite a bidding war for David who is rated €50 million. However, the Canada will have only one year of contact remaining at the end of the season putting Lille on a difficult bargaining position.

AC Milan will explore the conditions of a possible move in January reports Longo but a summer transfer remains the most probable option. The new season has started slowly for Jonathan David who has scored only 4 goals in 12 appearances with the French club. Last season was a very productive one for David who scored 26 and assisted 4 in 40 appearances across all competitions.
