Donnarumma who? The most beautiful saves of Maignan in the derby

Watch the most beautiful and crucial saves of Mike Maignan in the derby that helped AC Milan secure the three points against Inter.

Tonight’s Inter vs Milan was one of those matches that will be remembered for a long time. The Rossoneri win the Derby della Madonnina with a brace from Olivier Giroud completing an incredible comeback. A victory obtained with courage and personality, and also a bit of luck that never hurts.

With two goals in three minutes, AC Milan secure a prestigious win and get back in the race for the Scudetto. While Giroud may have scored the goals it was Mike Maignan to secure the result with some great saves throughout the 90 minutes.

The French shot-stopper was simply sensational on a number of occasions. Once again Maignan proved he’s no longer a surprise but rather a world class goalkeeper that has made the Rossoneri goalkeeper forget Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Maignan’s first great save was on Brozovic, who tried his luck from a distance. A common shot weren’t for Kalulu’s deviation that would have knocked out any goalkeeper. But not Maignan, who changed direction in the last second and managed to catch the ball.

Then the save on Denzel Dumfries was something truly astonishing. One-on-one against Maignan it looked like a safe goal for Dumfries but Magic Mike did the increadible catching the ball with his foot and then with his body.

Excellent exit in a counter-attack from Inter with Hakan Calhanoglu dangerously headed towards the goal. In such occasions, if a player mistakes his timing by even an inch, he will take a red card and leave the team in ten. But Mike did not hesitate even for a moment and made a successful intervention.

Less extraordinary but still important and effective were the saves on Dzeko and Lautaro. An omnipresent goalkeeper, always attentive, good with his feet. At this point, it is obvious that during the last summer window AC Milan made their best piece of business on goal.
