AC Milan target Netherlands right back
MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries is AC Milan’s number one target for the right back position.
AC Milan are looking for new signings to improve the defense for the next season. With Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria playing below expectations this season the Rossoneri are searching a new right back with Denzel Dumfries being the number one target.
Dumfries has established himself as one of the best right backs in Netherlands in recent seasons. According to Calciomercato, AC Milan scouts have long been on the trail of the PSV Eindhoven defender and have advised his signing to the management.
In the summer, AC Milan can conduct a double negotiation with PSV. The Rossoneri could facilitate the purchase of Dumfries by offering Ricardo Rodriguez in exchange. The Swiss full-back is currently on loan at the Dutch club where he is doing very well.
Dumfries was born in Rotterdam on 18 April 1996. He will be 24 in about a month and is ready to challenge himself in a better league. He’s an untouchable player at PSV. This season Dumfries has made 25 appearances, scoring 7 goals and assisting 3. Great numbers that have attracted the interest of Milan who are in search of a player that can give a contribution in attack just like Theo Hernandez.
Given his physicality (1.89 cm high) Dumfries can also be play as centre back or defensive midfielder if necessary. Since 2018, the right back is part of the Netherlands national team. He has made 9 appearances with Netherlands and fights with Atalanta’s Hateboer for the role of starting right back in EURO 2020.
PSV signed Denzel Dumfries in 2018 from Heerenveen for 5 million euros, today his value has tripled. PSV is asking at least €15 million to sell him. AC Milan can play the Rodriguez card to lower their claims. A potentially great purchase on paper. With Dumfries the Rossoneri could secure a complete defender who is already playing at international level.
