Juventus are seriously interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Bianconeri are willing to match the AC Milan star’s economic demands.
AC Milan are not yet close to renewing Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract. So far the parties have have remained cold in their positions and the Italian goalkeeper is at serious risk of becoming a free agent in one month.
The Rossoneri have offered Donnarumma a new contract of 8 million euros per season, bonuses included. A considerable proposal, given that Gigio currently earns 6 million per year. It was a significant economic effort on the part of the management taking into account the difficulties every club is facing. However, Mino Raiola asks for more money having started with a request of €12 million.
Things between AC Milan and Gianluigi Donnarumma worsened when Raiola met with Juventus to discuss a potential transfer. Corriere dello Sport explains that signing Donnarumma is now a priority for Juventus and the Bianconeri have offered a long-term contract of over 10 million euros per year. President Andrea Agnelli and sporting director Fabio Paratici have a very good relationship with Raiola and have been in contact ever since.
In addition to the salary issue, Raiola is asking for a hefty commission if the AC Milan goalkeeper ends up joining Juventus. This type of business is almost never truly “free” because agents often pocket large sums.
Juventus look convinced to invest in Donnarumma, a 22-year-old goalkeeper who represents the future. Being able to sign him without having to negotiate a transfer fee with AC Milan is a great opportunity and the Juventus are already on the move.
However, this operation becomes feasible only if Juventus manage to sell Wojciech Szczesny, the current goalkeeper of Andrea Pirlo’s squad. It is not an easy feat given that the Pole earns around €7 million per year and the goalkeeper market appears to be blocked around Europe. A return in the Premier League is possible for Szczesny with Tottenham interested in his services.
On the other hand, AC Milan have not stayed still. If at the end Donnarumma decides to reject their proposal the Rossoneri will need to sign a new goalkeeper. According to reports AC Milan have blocked Lille’s new star Mike Maignan. The 25-year-old French goalkeeper will take Gigio’s place if he leaves this summer.
